My name is Misty Hempel and I have been an active and proud member of the Thief River Falls School Board since 2009.

I am involved on the Strategic Planning Board Committee, Policy Board Committee, Community Education Advisory Council, Meet & Confer Outreach, and Transportation Board Committee, as well as the Curriculum Advisory Committee.

I am honored to be a part of the many impactful strides that I have witnessed in our district over the years I have been on the board.  During my tenure, we have implemented All Day Every Day Kindergarten, along with growing our College in the High School and Career & Technical Education programs.   We successfully passed a referendum that provided many updates to our district buildings and infrastructure, as well as increased school security and safety.  I am proud of our 1:1 technology initiative and the diverse learning opportunities it has provided to our students & staff across the district.

I am a proud LHS alumni and have lived in Thief River Falls for 30 years. Both of my children, Olivia and Spencer, received excellent educations due to the incredible staff and programming within the Thief River Falls School District.  My daughter, Olivia, is currently attending MSUM pursuing a degree in Speech Language Pathology and my son, Spencer, is a Senior at Lincoln High School.  They both continue to be actively involved in many activities throughout our district and community and are proud to be Prowler Alumni. 

I truly believe that Thief River Falls is the best place to live and raise a family and I am grateful for the opportunity to have one small part in the success of the place I am honored to call home.
