My name is Misty Hempel and I have been a member of the Thief River Falls School Board since 2009.

I am actively involved on the Strategic Planning Board Committee, Policy Board Committee, Community Education Advisory Committee, Meet & Confer Outreach, Flexible Learning Committee, and Transportation Board Committees, as well as the Early Childhood/ECFE Advisory Council and Curriculum Advisory Committee.

I am proud of the many wonderful strides that I have witnessed in our district over the years I have been on the board.  We implemented All Day Every Day Kindergarten along with growing our College in the High School and Career & Technical Education programs.   We successfully passed a referendum that provided many updates our district buildings were in need of, as well as increased school security and safety.  I am proud of our 1:1 technology initiative and the diverse learning opportunities it has provided to our students & staff across the district.

My husband, Cody, and I are both proud LHS alumni and have lived in Thief River Falls for over 20 years. We have two children, Olivia and Spencer, who are actively involved in many activities throughout our district and community. We truly believe Thief River Falls is the best place to live and raise a family and I am grateful for the opportunity to have one small part in the success of the place I am honored to call home.
